Evaluationof a Single-Color-ReadingMethod for DeterminingFructosamine MurrayA. Rosenthal’ and Unda

چکیده
A commercial kit fordetermining fructosamine was evaluated. The reference interval (determined from data on 183 nondiabetic subjects) was 1.67 to 2.85 (mean 2.17) mmol/L. Serum and plasma (EDTAor heparin-anticoagulated) gave equivalent results; plasma treated with fluoride/oxalate gave slightly lower values. The between-run CV was <4%. Fructosamine values were similar by the present method and the kinetic method. The standard curve was linear in the range of 1.3 to 8.5 mmol/L. None of several constituents of blood that we tested appreciably interfered. Fructosamine values were increased in some lipemic samples from non-diabetics, and were significantly correlated with glycated hemoglobin as measured by affinity chromatography. This kit evidently is a suitablealternative to the kineticmethod for determining fructosamine.

Effect of Drying Methods on Quality Characteristics of Curry (Murraya koenigii) Leaves
Different drying methods viz., Sun drying, shade drying and tray drying (temperature 45, 55 and 65 0C) were used for dehydration of curry (Murraya koenigii) leaves for optimal retention of color and its constituents. It was observed that the time required for tray drying was less (27%), when compared to sun and shade drying. Tray dried (550C) curry leaves had maintained nutritional constituents...
متن کاملMelkersson-Rosenthal syndrome: Appropriate response to the combination treatment with intralesional triamcinolone injection and oral azithromycin
Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome is an uncommon disorder which is presented by a triad of lip swelling, facial nerve palsy, and a fissured tongue. A number of treatments have been reported for this syndrome with variable outcomes. We have reported a 38-year-old female patient with lower lip swelling and a fissured tongue on clinical examination. She was also suffering from facial nerve paralysis s...

متن کاملThe crystal structure of the extracellular 11-heme cytochrome UndA reveals a conserved 10-heme motif and defined binding site for soluble iron chelates.
Members of the genus Shewanella translocate deca- or undeca-heme cytochromes to the external cell surface thus enabling respiration using extracellular minerals and polynuclear Fe(III) chelates. The high resolution structure of the first undeca-heme outer membrane cytochrome, UndA, reveals a crossed heme chain with four potential electron ingress/egress sites arranged within four domains. Seque...
